Celebrate National Vegetarian Day

Today is National Vegetarian Day. I am not a vegetarian, I do eat chicken and fish but this is a wonderful day to celebrate and compliment the individuals who are committed to the vegetarian lifestyle. Since I have been eating 50% raw, I have decreased my intake of flesh tremendously. I am strongly thinking about transitioning in the future.

If you are considering becoming a vegetarian there are many health benefits such as more energy, reduced risk of cancer, heart disease and obesity. Your skin and hair will truly benefit as well.

The transitioning process does not have to be difficult if you are thinking about eliminating meat from your diet. The following tips should help.

1.Take Inventory – Write down everything that you eat for a week. Highlight any meat that you consume. Set weekly goals on reducing your consumption of meat.

2.Set Goals – Create goals that are comfortable for your lifestyle, remember this decision is yours and yours only.

3.Create a Menu – Once you make the decision, it is important to stay organized, this is a lifestyle change, it takes about four weeks to develop a habit. A menu will help with organization and accountability.

4.Journal – Write down your accomplishments, feelings and setbacks this will help you stay on track.

Are you celebrating National Vegetarian Day?

Are you a vegetarian, if how was your transition process?

I'm not a vegetarian (I eat fish), but like you I'm seriously considering it.

Actually, I picked up this book up at the bookstore today "The Flexitarian Diet - The Mostly Vegetarian Way to Lose Weight, Be Healthier, Prevent Disease, and Add Years to Your Life".

Oh, I gave you a blog award. Check out www.fortyisthenew20.blogspot.com for details. It's one post down.

I love food too much to be a vegetarian, although I mostly eat seafood.

My sister became a vegetarian after she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 23. She went cold turkey to transition into a new way of eating. This girl Lovedddd meat, but she felt that it would be a heathier choice. However, I am concerned about her lack of protien. Her intake is very limited which I bug her about.

i am a vegitairan and am 12 years old. My entier family are big hunters so it was hard to let my parents let me. But i get anof protien everyday and take a viteam to get more zinc. I am very happy with the decision i made and think it is fine with whatever 'type' of eating u have.
