Embracing Downtime

It is inevitable that our schedules are full with work, family, and extracurricular activities. Many of us dream for a time when things slow down so we can relax. When the universe presents us with downtime, we feel like we are going crazy. Anxiety, nervousness and the search for something else to do sets in. What we should do is embrace it and understand that this is simply a preparation cycle for greater things to come.

Here are three ways to embrace downtime.

Reflect – Honor your time and relax. Take out your journal, create new goals or review your old goals to see if you are fully on track. Also use this time to reconnect with friends that you may not see on a regular basis. It is also important to clean your space.

Renew – Use this time to recharge yourself. Are physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually healthy? If not, create a plan to get yourself back on track.

Restart – Remember downtime is for a moment. As you use this time to take care of yourself, mentally prepare for the next cycle.
