New Year New Goals

Happy New Year! As we are beginning 2009, many of us have made resolutions and reflected on what we wan to change in our lives. This is the first official week to get started. It is very common that people do not keep their resolutions or forget about their goals as the year progresses. It takes 4 weeks to create a habit. The following is a quick guide to help you stay on track with your goals for 2009.

Write them down- Once you write down your goal, you are already manifesting its completion.

Take baby steps – If you want to stop drinking coffee, for example, try going two days a week without coffee. Then the next week try three. Always keep the big picture in mind and break your goals down into smaller goals.

Stay conscious of your decision – If you need reminders or affirmations either repeat them to yourself or write them down so you can stay on track and be accountable for your actions.

Share your goals – Sometimes it is hard to share our dreams and goals with others. There are people in your life that will support you and encourage you. Share your goals with them as well as your setbacks they can help you stay on track.

Keep a journal or an achievement calendar- If you already journal be sure to track your progress while you are writing. It is also helpful to see the big picture with a calendar and you can track your achievements.

Reward yourself – You achieved your goal so go out and celebrate.
