Embracing Setbacks

Once in a while when we see things are finally going well, there is a setback. Your goals and focus are thrown off track and some individuals become annoyed, angry and start to question their purpose. The smooth road that you were on now has a couple of curves. The question is do you find your way over or under the curve or do you work through it?

This week as I was continuing on my journey I encountered a setback, the first thing I did because I was angered and annoyed was called my sister and cursed to the moon, I then questioned my path and wondered if I was on the right track. When we get upsetting news, we tend to dwell on the negative. After I thought about how my big picture is practically ruined, I stopped myself and realized that I really need to find the blessing in this situation. Here are some of the things that I came up with.

- Although the situation gave me remote stability it was not a healthy situation.

- I was “dealing with it” because I gave me more time to work on my other projects.

- The situation was not motivating nor did it have much growth potential.

- This forced me to move forward with some projects that I was working on.

- I also realized I changed, I did not dwell after I hung up with my sister I started writing
new goals and brainstorming ways to work this out.

When we have setbacks we already uncomfortable and it forces us to step outside of our comfort zone even more and attain courage. Due to this setback I had to alter my plans and it inspired me to go forward with a few ideas that I was contemplating. Also, I do know that when one door closes the universe is making room for something better to come along. We have to stay the path be grateful for everything. In the process of reworking some ideas I wrote down everything I was grateful for. Interestingly enough, When I got home I checked my e-mail and I was assigned some extra stories and I also have the opportunity to interview one of my favorite writers who I truly truly admire. That helped my day and I realized that I have to stay on my path as best I can with faith and courage.

Here are some tips on embracing setbacks

- Allow yourself to vent.
- Look at the bigger picture.
- Rework your plan.
- Be grateful for what you do have.
- Work though the difficult spots, this will give you strength and growth.
- Regain courage.
- Step outside your comfort zone.
- See what the universe has waiting for you.
- Stay positive and keep it moving.
- Remember that everything happens for a reason and it is always a blessing in disguise.

I can relate to this article in so many ways. The tips that you have shared are similar to the positive thinking I put into action whenever I am faced with a setback. God answers prayer and knows our strife, and the closing doors that setbacks allow will never be eternally closed for He has the key to open it. Thanks for sharing.
