Five Ways to Beat the Monday Blues

It is Sunday night your fabulous restful weekend is ending with an odd sense of anxiety. You already know your schedule and your weekly responsibilities, yet you are nervous like it is the first day of school. Week after week people suffer what I consider the Sunday Night Syndrome. I had a case of this for a long time until I re-evaluated my thoughts. I realized that my job was my livelihood so my attitude would determine the outcome. I also thought a new week can bring about new opportunities, even though, at the time, I would rather work somewhere else, but living in Michigan, it a blessing to be employed. If you are having the “Sunday Night Syndrome” or any type of anxiety about starting the new week consider these five tips.

1. Write it down: Get to the root of why your mood is changing once you understand the issue at hand you can work through it.

2. Create a relaxing regime before bedtime: Whether it is reading a book, doing some yoga, taking a bath, drinking some tea with a friend, make sure it brings you relaxation and joy. It is your mental relaxation before a new and exciting week.

3. Create goals for the next week: If you have a project at work, around the house or an exercise goal you want to attain, create a list and give yourself tasks each day toward your goal. This will help you feel accomplished and excited to start the next week.

4. Have some fun: Pick a day of the week for your fun day. After work gather up some friends and go out. This will give you social interaction that will break up the work week.

5. Embrace me time: Just like having fun with others, be sure to take out time for yourself. Whatever you love to do go do it. Consider it a date with yourself. This will give you time to reflect and something to look forward to during the week. Sphere: Related Content
