Create Balance in your life with Feng Shui

Our environment is important to our well being because it tends to affect our physical, mental, and spiritual health. Since home and work are the primary locations for most individuals, it is essential that these locations are as peaceful and balanced as possible. An easy way to create a balanced area is the ancient art and philosophy of “Feng Shui.”

What is Feng Shui:
Feng Shui pronounced fung (wind) shway (water) has been used for over two thousand years in the Far East and China for the purpose of improving health, relationships, and prosperity. The art of Feng Shui involves the awareness of how location and environment can affect an individual’s over all well-being. One can create positive energy and balance by adjusting the interior and surrounding environment of the home or workplace.

There are two main approaches, or schools, to the art of Feng Shui: the Form School and the Compass School. The Form School encourages the use of physical environment of land to determine where you live, and visual senses to detect shapes, colors and textures. The second school is the Compass School, which symbolizes a floor plan and room layout that relates to eight points of a compass. Along with the schools are five different elements of the art that energy can manifest itself through: fire, earth, wood, water, or metal. It is said that these elements affect everything we do and create the positive change that is necessary for a balanced well-being. The following are tips for your home and work environment, also an easy Feng Shui guide for the bedroom.

Office:
DO

· Balance light and dark colors, soft and hard surfaces, and smooth and rough textures in your choice of window treatments, furniture, and flooring.

· Treat the files in your office with respect. They represent your past, present, and future business.

· Put your computer in the North or West area of your office to enhance your creativity. Place the computer in the Southeast if you use it to generate income. Keep the cords to your office equipment well hidden.

· Place an aquarium or tabletop fountain in the East, North, or Southeast. A small aquarium with black or blue fish in the North area of your desk or office will activate your business and career success. Guppies or a single arrowana are ideal for an aquarium made of glass and metal.

DON’T

· Have any mirrors in your office, as they can reflect negative energy from clients to other people in the room. You should always maintain control over the energy in your office

· Arrange your workspace so that you look straight out into a corridor or see the stairs, storage rooms, closets, elevators, escalators, or toilets.

· Sit in line with the door, as you will be in the path of negative energy.

Home:
DO
· Clean out your closets and drawers. Give away, sell or throw away anything that you not longer use or no longer like.

· Play calming music like ocean waves, forest sounds or rain falling to soothe a stressful working or home environment.

· Place something that lifts your spirit in the room like, wonderfully smelling flowers at your desk. They will give you a fresher and a rosier outlook on things. Though not in the “Love & Marriage” corner. Fresh flowers clashes with the element of romance, which is Earth.

· Add mirrors to increase the size of a small room. You will create a feeling of more space and also endless opportunities.

DON’T
· Leave dead or withering plants in your area. They are dead and you do not want your wealth to be dead. Replace them with fakes or silks.

· Put your bed directly in front of the bedroom door.

· Place too much furniture in one area. It can make us feel cramped and restrict the flow of our opportunities.
